Oil Painting Class: Supply List
Supplies for Beginners
Standing easels are supplied
Paints:
Look for Winsor & Newton or Grumbacher as good brands. Do not get Winton or Grumbacher Academy or Max- these are student grade and water soluble versions.
120ml tube Titanium White
37ml tube Ivory Black
you may get the next colors later since they won’t be used until the final painting:
37ml Winsor Yellow
37ml Winsor Red
37ml Winsor Blue Red Shade
I am specific on colors, you may substitute Winsor Blue Green Shade or Grumbacher Thalo Blue, or Grumbacher Red if you cannot find the first three. (Ideally six primaries are better, but we will stick with three).
Brushes:
About four brushes ranging in ferrule widths from 1/4” to 1” Bright. Depending on brand, a 1” may be a size 22 as in Winsor & Newton’s Galleria, or a 10 or 12 in others. Look for brands like the above mentioned and Isabey, Ruby Satin Silver, Monarch, or Princeton. Look for oil brushes with good shaped edges, not for cheap ones that are already splayed out.

HB lead, two or three and pencil sharpener
Kneaded Erasure
